MARA Organises Mega Sales Carnival To Increase Cash Flow For SME Entrepreneurs

SHAH ALAM, April 14 (Bernama) -- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) will assist entrepreneurs of small medium enterprises (SME) to increase their cash flow through the Mega Sales Carnival in 70 areas throughout Malaysia, its deputy director-general (entrepreneurs) Datuk Othman Ahmad said.

Through this programme which has been undertaken in a few states such as Kedah, MARA hopes to bring the SME entrepreneurs to buyers who will pay cash at the sales carnival and in doing so, directly increase their cash flow, he told a press conference here after a launching ceremony for the XPO Retailing 2009 event today.

The two-day exhibition organised by MARA begins today. It was officiated by the chairman of the Selangor Entrepreneur Development Council, Datuk Raja Ideris Raja Ahmad.

"At present SME entrepreneurs faced a cash flow problem when they supply goods to supermarkets, as they are normally paid between one to two months.

"It is hoped that by having direct sales to customers through the carnival, their cash flow will be increased," said Othman.

He said that the Minister from the Ministry, which will take over MARA, which was previously under the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (MeCD), would launch the Mega Sales Carnival programme in Kuala Lumpur next month.

The MeCD was disbanded following the restructuring and announcement on the Ministries by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last week.

Othman said that he hoped the spirit and business culture developed by the MeCD among Bumiputera's would continue to be upheld by the new Ministry taking over MARA.
