The Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) is set to transform and
expand the agricultural sector in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern
Perak, with corresponding developments in manufacturing, logistics and
tourism sectors within the corridor. Agriculture and Agro-based Industry
Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin recently said it he was confident that
with proper strategy and collaborations with Holland and other foreign
countries, Malaysia's agriculture sector would progress.
Under the plan, Perlis will have a climatic fruit cluster programmes,
apart from other programmes such as an inland container depot, border
town development and seed academy. Feedlots and cattle integration
projects are meanwhile being planned in Selama in Perak. With the seeds
of visionary plans in the agricultural sector strategically sown, the
country is in for good harvest again soon, only better this time with
new technologies, more efficient logistics and innovative marketing.
The NCER, along with other national-level agro-based development plans
in other parts of the country, will boost rural incomes of the farmers
by redesigning farming, distribution and marketing. Continue to browse
