KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The Airports Council International (ACI) annual assembly of the world's airport executives on Wednesday elected Max Moore-Wilton as its new chairman.
ACI, is the global airport trade association. Moore-Wilton will serve for a two-year term.
He succeeds James Cherry as of Jan 1, 2010.
Moore-Wilton knows the ACI well, having first served as a regional advisor and as a member of the its governing board and then as vice chairman this year.
In December 2002, he was appointed the executive chairman and chief executive of the privatised Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) and then its chairman in April 2006.
"I am proud and honoured to be elected the new ACI chairman. ACI has a unique role in the aviation industry as we act as the voice of the worlds' airports," he said.
The ACI represents more than 1650 airports globally.
Moore-Wilton is confident that the ACI would continue to grow and evolve into an organisation that advances the collective interest of the world's airports.
The Assembly also elected as the vice chairman, Dr. Yiannis Paraschis of Athens International Airport SA.
